Ok, I’ve nearly eaten all of the Christmas leftovers and I’ve packed away the baubles and tinsel, so I guess it’s time to start looking at the New Year with a Feel Fantastic rather than Feel Flabtastic attitude. Having learnt from experience, I’m not one to go hell for leather with the resolutions as I think going extreme just sets you up to fail. And we’ve all written that list, haven’t we? You know the one…
- Lose 2 stone
- Change out of dog walking clothes into stylish clothes every day (and by smart I don’t mean ironed pyjamas)
- Run 10 miles 3 times a week
- Eat kale not cake
- Brush hair every day
- Only drink wine at weekends
I mean, how on earth is any of that ever realistically going to happen in my life? Instead, I am going to focus on attainable goals in 2017 that may not give me that Instagram worthy body I will always secretly covet, but it will give me a healthier, happier outlook on life and that’s what’s important.Starting with the number 1 of resolutions, I’m talking about diet. And by diet, I don’t mean a losing weight diet (although that would be very nice, thank you) I mean what is going to be included in what I eat every day. I want to ensure I get all the vitamins and minerals I need to make myself feel as good as I possibly can and that means upping my intake of those skin, hair and health beauties – antioxidants. If you’re not sure what antioxidants are (where have you been hiding for the past year?) put simply, they’re molecules produced by the body and obtained by food which are an important part of the defence system which help protect us from premature ageing, cancer and cardiovascular disease.
With making improvements to my health being at the forefront of my New Year goals, I was really pleased when New Zealand based natural foods and supplements company, Comvita, got in touch to tell me more about their #FeelFantastic campaign. Not only is it the perfect fit with the ‘feel great, look fabulous’ ethos of Glowology, it’s also a wonderful way of letting my lovely readers know all about the benefits of the Comvita Olive Leaf Extract Immune Support Capsules – and to try them myself! I was immediately blown away to know that Olive Leaf Extract contains 40% higher antioxidant level than Olive Oil (which I also love and use almost daily).
I’d already heard of Comvita Manuka Honey as being a gold standard product so wasn’t surprised to find out that the Olive Leaf Extract Supplements reflect the same quality with a high strength formula containing 66mg Oleuropein (a phenolic compound found in olive leaf) in each soft gel capsule, along with Zinc and Copper to boost immune support. A fabulous blend of natural goodness to see off those dark day doldrums if ever I saw one and while Comvita are shouting out their feel-good message, they also want to know which other ways we can help ourselves feel the best we can. You can find out more about the Comvita range of health products here.
Along with the obvious benefits of taking Comvita supplements, my other no-fuss #FeelFantastic goals in 2017 are to take more time to read. Sounds simple, but with 3 adult-kids, Stressed Husband, demanding, messy but lovable Labrador and my work, making time to relax with a book is a real pleasure and one that I’ve let slide lately. So not any more – I’m stocking up with books I’ve been longing to read and I’m loving it!
Of course, keeping fit plays a big part in my life too – even if it has been somewhat sporadic of late, I never forgo my daily dog walk which is a chance for me to breathe deeply, enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the river or my local park and have a bit of mood boosting fresh air and daylight – when the sun decides to peek out! I’m booked in to my local Zumba Strong class next week – so will let you know how that goes (sounds a bit scary!).
My last resolution for 2017 is to get out with Stressed Husband and friends more, to go further afield than the local pub! Tempting though it is in this weather to sit by a cosy log fire, sipping a large glass of red wine, we are determined to widen our horizons with day trips to the theatre, exhibitions or just simply enjoying new places and people watching!
So, that’s how I’m going to make sure I #FeelFantastic this year, but what about you? If you’d like the chance to win a prize pack from Comvita (like the one below) so that you can increase your antioxidant levels, get more energy and help support your immune system to fight off those winter bugs, then post an image of what makes you #FeelFantastic on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the hashtags #FeelFantastic and #Glowology (Read full Ts & Cs below)
