I Had the Latest Age Jet Treatment and I am all a-glow!

My skin after AgeJet treatment

Are you, like me, a fiend for the latest advancements in skin rejuvenation? If so, you will want to know more about AgeJet – the latest aesthetic treatment that does away with the need for pain-inducing needles and lasers but will still give you a more lifted, smoother complexion…

My favourite aesthetician, Victoria Voysey, founder of Refine Skin Labs at The Door W4 knows I’m always looking for the ‘next big thing’ in rejuvenating the skin without going full face-lift and fillers and was excited to let me in to the AgeJet secret. Of course, I was delighted to accept her invitation to be Guinea pig, knowing from past experience that I was in the most capable hands!

How does AgeJet work?
Rather than removing the top layer of skin using heat or micro-needling techniques, it uses nitrogen-based plasma to cause thermal injury to a slightly deeper level of the skin, destroying the older skin cells whilst leaving the top layer of skin intact. This works to stimulate elastin and collagen and, after a treatment, the good work deep inside the skin cells keeps on improving over the following months.

What is different to AgeJet compared to other Plasma skin rejuvenating treatments?
AgeJet is non-invasive and uses the newest tech on the block – you can heat the skin with much more energy whilst causing less damage which means trauma and down-time is minimal. It’s safer, quicker and easier to execute yet still delivers fabulous, long-lasting results.

What skin concerns can AgeJet treat?
Traditional lasers can come with risk of complication related to ‘ablative damage’ (removing the outer layers of skin to stimulate collagen formation). AgeJet can treat very sensitive areas safely, such as loose skin and fine lines around the eyes and it’s ideal for:

• fine lines and wrinkles
• skin pigmentation and sun damage
• age spots
• loose skin
• acne scarring
• rosacea

What happens during the treatment?
I expected to have a layer of anaesthetic cream applied to my face in preparation for the treatment. Let’s just say, I’ve had laser treatments before that have been a 9 on the ‘wince’ factor scale and I didn’t want PTSD to set in when Victoria came at me with the AgeJet hand piece! However, she reassured me that I wouldn’t need any anaesthetic.

She was right. After trying the device on the back of my hand, I was totally happy to go for it and couldn’t wait to get started. Victoria checked with me after every round of nitrogen ‘pings’ to see how it felt and to ask whether I needed to stop for a break but there honestly wasn’t one time when I felt it was ‘too much’. The smell of burning hair can be a bit disconcerting as the device works across the face, but I just took it as a bonus – getting rid of the peach fuzz while improving my complexion. Win-win!

I knew to expect redness afterwards and Victoria was very upfront about the down-time which she said would be around 5 days. I have found that Victoria always makes sure you’re totally informed with what to expect before, during and after a treatment which is great, so there are no nasty surprises. Everything that my skin went through during the week after my treatment was totally expected and Victoria was on hand to answer any questions about aftercare.

After the treatment
For the first couple of days after the treatment my skin was red and blotchy and felt as if I had quite stingy sunburn. It then started to feel tight for the next few days and as the redness subsided, little patches of skin would peel off when gently washing the face. Finally, the magic happened and as the top layer of skin disappeared, it revealed the softest, brightest, smoothest skin I’d seen on my face since I was a dewy, collagen-packed skin owner, in my twenties!

The peeling wasn’t ‘shedding snake skin’ standard, it was much less obvious than that and a large dollop of gentle moisturiser and plenty of SPF made it barely noticeable. The blotchiness, as pigmentation initially darkened before improving, was also bearable and could be covered up with a hydrating concealer.

Here are some before and after pictures of before the treatment and a month afterwards. One AgeJet treatment has worked wonders on lessening pigmentation and improving the skin’s texture.

Verdict
I would suggest not putting anything in the diary where you have to be fully face-on for the first 5-7 days after the AgeJet treatment, but from then on, once you see how incredible the results are – softer lines, plumper, more hydrated and tighter skin – I recommend filling the diary with dates where everyone will bask in your glow and ask you how comes you look so fabulous!

The three months since my AgeJet treatment have been full of stressful situations – from gynae procedures, to house-training a puppy through to moving house – and although I have felt downright awful at some points, one thing I haven’t had to really worry about is my skin which has held up perfectly during these challenging times as the AgeJet continues to work.

Have a look over on my Instagram for a reel which I’ve uploaded to show pictures of my skin through the AgeJet journey – around 1 week.

The only downside for me is the price. Like many highly advanced aesthetic treatments carried out by the top practitioners in the industry, it is very expensive and can cost around £1,000 for the full face, neck and eyes. However, knowing that The Door W4 also do stand alone AgeJet treatments for lips and eyes starting at £185 has cheered me up because I would definitely book in for those once I’ve saved up a bit after Christmas.

Disclosure: My AgeJet treatment was complimentary in return for my honest review. If the treatment was not successful or I wasn’t impressed, I had no obligation to post. As a former beauty editor and current writer/content creator in the beauty, aesthetics and wellness industry, I am lucky enough to enjoy testing new treatments when invited. However, I am also a paying client of Victoria Voysey at Refine Skin Labs and The Door W4 as I am personally delighted with their services.
