Since I last posted, I’m delighted to have started receiving writing commissions again and it looks like Glowology has caught the eye of other bloggers and industry insiders because I’ve been lucky enough to start receiving exciting invitations to beauty and wellbeing launches. So, as well as my regular musings on ways to help feel and look your fabulous best, I now have the opportunity to review some great new products and treatments and report back to my lovely readers about what’s new out there that might help put a little glow into your life…
Last week I went along to St Martins Lane Hotel with Queen Teen to view MakeUp Revolution, a brand new range that’s due to hit a Superdrug near you on 9th April. It was a little odd – but lovely-odd – to be attending a launch with my daughter who’s been interning at seriously inspiring, online lifestyle magazine Your Coffee Break, making her mark (like her mum) in the world of journalism! The fact that makeup was involved made the appointment even more special for both of us 😉
As I was being taken through the range, I was totally blown away by the amount on offer! There’s none of the ‘we’re starting with a few makeup basics and then looking to expand’ No siree, laid out in front of us were foundations, lipsticks, eyeshadows and blushers in every hue (I mean it – look at the pictures – yellow!) and in every texture possible. Just to give you an idea of what I mean, the lipsticks available are Amazing Lip Care #Happylips which is a well pigmented colour within the bullet, surrounded with hydrating argan oils to soften and smooth. There’s also Lip Power: The Duo Collection which is a double ended product featuring a satin matte lipstick with a gloss. Then there’s Amazing Lip Gloss Collection and Amazing Sheer Gloss Tubes, followed by Salvation Intense Lip Gloss and Salvation Intense Velvet Lip Gloss. Phew! And that’s just the lips. There’s more than simply one or two variants in everything from blushers, eyeshadows to foundations and nail polish.
There’s much too much in the range for me to talk about here, so I want to go straight to my hero products – the ones that will stay in my makeup bag and will make me feel confident and look my best when I apply them. I was immediately drawn to the Vivid Blush Lacquer, £3 which is a lovely, easy slide liquid blusher that comes in six easy to wear shades.
My next must-have is the Awesome Metal Eye Foils, £5 with a shimmery, metallic finish that can be worn all over the lid for the brave and sassy or drawn as a thick line on the upper lid – which is the look I’ll probably favour. Foils come with a liquid primer and little tray so you can mix the product to the intensity you desire.
Queen Teen and I left with a whole range of goodies which we’ve dipped into and swapped with each other over the last week and found that while some products we loved and will be definite keepers, others we weren’t so keen on – we found the Nail Polish chipped quite quickly, but for £1 we can’t really complain!
The USP of the range is that it’s very affordable – from £1 to £12 – and there’s something for everyone whatever your age or style. It hits the nail on the head with the latest trends like the foil shadows and the baked blushes and the reason I love it most? At these prices, there’s no excuse for Little Teen and Queen Teen not to have as much makeup of their own as they can stuff into their makeup bags and they can finally leave mine alone!
I’d love to know what you think of the range and what items make it into your cosmetic bag!
