Now that my winter sniffles have finally left, my nostrils are clear and free to twitch at the first scent of spring. Ahhh. And as the spring/summer 2014 Mango look book landed on my desk today, it wasn’t just my nostrils that went into overdrive – my mind was whirring with ‘I have to have that!’ and ‘My wardrobe needs that too!’ Now, I love fashion, always have, always will, but I’m not particularly stylish because I’m too
lazy busy to get my act together most of the time – I’m all comfy, doggy walking boots and lipgloss – but when I scrub up, I do so quite well…even if I do say so myself. Of course, my idol, Joan Collins wouldn’t hear of such an excuse – you’re never too busy to be full out glam as far as she’s concerned and she’s right, of course. But because I don’t often try as hard as I should, I need clothes that make me look like I have and that’s where Mango come in – they’ve pulled off ‘effortless chic’ perfectly…
I don’t think I’ve ever been quite as bowled over by the wearable, stylish yet affordable looks in one collection. It’s hard to choose a favourite because it’s all gorge and what’s more, it’s cleverly classic and, I think, suitable for any age range. Of course, that could be a disaster for anyone like me with teenage daughters who will rummage through your wardrobe leaving no bra unturned to find all those special pieces you thought you’d hidden so well.
Just as I thought I’d seen as much perfection as I could in one clothing range, I noticed VIOLETA by Mango, a stand alone collection for sizes through to 24. There’s no putting curvy mamas in the corner with this little lot! From bold, figure skimming dresses (see black dress pic above) to a few different styles of jeans – not just ‘flattering’ bootcut, that so often gets shoved at bigger girls – VIOLETA proves to clothing manufacturers that plus size can be fashion forward and fabulous.
So my stylish readers, if you’re looking to put a pop of spring into your wardrobe this weekend – my suggestion? Tango along to Mango before you miss out!
