Review | Boots Time Delay BB Cream SPF 15

Time Delay BB Cream

So, it’s back to work after the long weekend. This, plus the windy, rainy weather means there’s a bit of a negative vibe in the air and I admit, it took me longer than normal to hobble hop out of bed this morning. However, my day has cheered up considerably since trying out one of my beauty buys from the weekend so I thought I’d share it with you…

I have long been a fan of Boots Time Delay Instant Lip Plumper and wrote about my love for its glistening gorgeousness here a long time ago. Many lip glosses later and this is still up there with the best of them. So on a recent visit to Boots to stock up on my beloved gloss, I noticed their BB Cream and as I’ve recently run out of my favourite Clarins one, I thought I’d give it a go.

BB cream arm

Pleasantly surprised is an understatement! This morning, I squeezed a little blob of the creamy coverage onto the back of my hand – see cute little heart shape blob above 🙂 – and set about my morning ritual of trying to hide imperfections like broken capillaries and blemishes while hoping to get an even toned, smooth complexion which looks hydrated, as flawless as possible at my age yet not too obviously made up. Well, Boots Time Delay BB Cream did the trick and some!

I was really surprised at the excellent coverage – the texture was quite thick but smoothed on and blended really well, giving my skin a really soft, dewy look without looking cakey – or fakey! 🙂 The Medium shade (it comes in Light too) was perfect for me, just adding a subtle radiance – my skin but better basically. It contains Vitamin C and hydrating ingredients so acts as a skincare treatment and makeup in one

2020 UPDATED I have found a new foundation love and it’s also a brilliant budget buy! No7 HydraLuminous Moisturising Foundation has really made my day…and improved the look of my skin! Not sure if this would be ideal for those with oily complexions as it is quite moisturising, but for those of us with mature or dehydrated, dry skins looking for a medium coverage and excellent value for money, you can find it here £11.99 here at Boots.

I would say it really does give my Clarins, (which, looking on the internet, you can find from around £24 to £30) a definite run for its money. The BB creams are very similar in texture and Clarins wins points with its higher SPF 25, but I feel the Time Delay probably covers flaws more evenly, so I will be buying it again! Find out more about Clarins BB cream here.

Is there another makeup base that you absolutely love? Let me know as I’m all about the BB Creams for summer skin glowability!

Have they really?! Wow, that’s annoying! I still have half a tube left from my stash so I will keep hold of it. I’ll try and find out whether there’s anything similar and why they decided to discontinue. Thanks for letting me know and dropping by! xx

Hi Victoria – thanks for popping by to my blog on your quest to find out more about the elusive Time Delay BB Cream. You’re among many of us who can’t believe it’s been discontinued! What a shame it is eh?! There are a couple of recommendation on this thread, so hopefully you will find something you like. And if you do find a winner – please drop a line on here and let us know! Thanks so much! Lisa xx

Absolute panic! Only have a few days supply left – have used this for years and can’t believe it has been discontinued.

Has anyone found anything as good as this yet? I’ve tried loads of products but nothing is nearly as moisturising or as full coverage as the time delay BB cream.

      Hi Jill

My second favourite is the Clarins BB cream which I really love and gives a nice little colour, evening the skin tone. That said, it is more expensive and the coverage isn’t as full as the Time Delay. I’m still searching I’m afraid and if I come across anything similar I will definitely put it on my blog! Thanks for commenting 🙂 Lisa x

Since using my last few drops of Time Delay I’ve spent a fortune on various BB creams – the more expensive creams were awful in my opinion. I recently bought a BB cream in a local chemist for £1.99 thinking that at that price I had nothing to lose. Amazingly, it is the most similar to Time Delay that I have found. Not perfect, but worth a try for £1.99.
The cream is called ‘Pure BB cream’ – I used to have the medium shade in Time Delay, but found medium too dark in Pure, the light shade is more suitable for me. I don’t think it is widely available – Home Bargains sell it, or the cheaper high street chemists.

Hello!!!!! I am so pleased that I have stumbled across this thread…I only discovered the tome delay BB cream in 2016 and am absolutely gutted that they have discontinued it…I have tried numerous other ones but they are either thick and heavy or translucent or orange…I am just wasting money on creams. I am currently using the Clarins one but don’t love it and wondered whether anyone had found anything similar? Boots responded to me today to say the new ‘l;ft’ range has replaced the time delay products, but there is no BB cream in this range so still at square one. I would really appreciate any comments…I’m not the most confident about my facial skin and was really happy whilst I had the time delay product! 🙁

Hello there and thank you for dropping in to my blog! I wrote the piece about Boots Time Delay Cream quite a while ago and I’m still getting people contacting me asking whether there is anything similar. It really is a shame that Boots don’t realise that this is a much loved product – and I and other women haven’t found anything that compares as yet! I am going to do some more research into this. At the moment I’m using Clarins which I do like but it doesn’t give as much coverage as the Time Delay and I’m also using Rimmel Wake Me Up Anti-Fatigue foundation which is a nice medium coverage and not too expensive. I think my favourite at the moment though is Bourgeois 123 Perfect CC Cream which has 3 pigments – for anti fatigue, anti redness and anti dark spots and I am loving it more and more! So I think this could be a contender for the Time Delay BB Cream. If you try it, let me know what you think, I’d be so interested to know. All the best and good luck finding that ‘special one’! Lisa xx

      Hi Laura

Thank you for dropping by to my blog – I’m having so many people comment about the Time Delay BB Cream and it really is such a shame. I’m trying to find something similar but haven’t quite got anything yet. I like my Bourjois CC cream though – it’s a bit lighter in texture but still covers well and lasts. Let me know if you find anything! Lisa x

I’m desperately missing Time Delay BB cream too! I love the coverage and effect of it – more like a foundation than other BB creams out there. I wish Boots could tell us which of their other products has the closest formulation!!

Hi great to hear all of your comments. I have been using Boots Time delay for years. Its perfect for my skin . I have just opened my last tube I bought 6 tubes when I was told they were discontinuing it. I have tried lots of foudations over the years but none as good as Time Delay. I will try the Pure and Bourgeois see if they suit. I wish BOOTS woud reconsider.

Hi Sandra. It’s such a shame isn’t it?! I did ask them and they aren’t really sure why it was discontinued – powers from above in the company I guess. But hope you find something you love as much soon! 🙂 Lisa x

Only just realised this is discontinued. I love this product. Wish I’d known. Would have stocked up. Had lots of compliments on my complexion and it’s all down to this Bb cream. What a bummer!

      Hi Sue

Sorry for the late reply! I agree – such a bummer! It covers everything perfectly doesn’t it?! I do like my IT Cosmetics CC cream though – so maybe you could give that one a try? Good luck 🙂 Lisa x

I bought about 12 of these when I heard they were being discontinued, and just ran out -I’m gutted! Tried the No 7 version today and it actually burned my face, god knows what’s in it but that never happened with the Time Delay one 🙁 So glad I’ve found this thread, will be trying the recommendations!

So my Clairins BB cream (which I don’t love…it is thick and heavy and I mix it with some bio-oil to make it a better texture) is coming to an end, and I thought I would look online to see if there was any update on the Boots time delay cream, and this thread came up which I commented on a year ago. I went into Boots this weekend to look for a replacement BB cream and was told that they are no longer the fashion and was directed towards foundation-which I have NEVER worn in my life, and have always been quite anti as not wanting to clog up my skin and have a heavy look…anyway, the Boots lady did a colour test and sent me away with a tester pot of No7 HydraLuminois, which I am quite liking and is possibly the closest thing to the time delay BB cream that I have tried. I also brought Revlon colourstay foundation in Buff (from amazon, it’s much cheaper than Boots)…both foundations but light and a nice light creamy texture like the time delay BB cream. Probably the best products I have found since my time delay ran out…fingers crossed 🙂

Hi Marie – thank you for your comment! Looks like we are all still on the hunt for something to take over the glowing first place of Boots Time Delay! How silly of them to discontinue it – I just don’t understand the logic – surely if there’s such a demand then they should really think about reinstating it! Or at least call it something else and update it a bit. Anyhow, I have also got the No7 HydraLuminous and I really like it too! It isn’t heavy is it? I find it glides on really well and covers just enough. I mix it with a bit of CC cream from a company called Yellow Rose Cosmetics and it gives it such a lovely glow. I’m happy with this so far 🙂 Thanks for sharing your news and come back and check in now and then! Thanks again, Lisa xx

Agh! I can’t believe this BB cream is no more! I too spend a fortune trying new foundations/tinted moisturiser but always went back to this time delay BB CREAM. Keep the recommendations coming in as I haven’t found anything to match the excellent coverage that it gave. Anyone happy with the latest CC CREAMS? ✊

Hi there and thank you for commenting. I can’t believe it’s discontinued either! There are a few recommendations in the comments here, but so far, I don’t think there has been any to actually beat this Time Delay! How annoying! But if anyone does come across something that totally lives up to it, then please do share! Thank you. Lisa xx

Hi all, just wanted to report back to say my search for a replacement for the Time Delay BB cream is finally over 🙂 I see someone else in the comments has already discovered it too – Boots Hydraluminous Moisturising Foundation is blimmin amazing! The reviews are a bit ”Marmite’ (i.e. love it or hate it) so what suits one might not suit another, but glad to say my skin is happy; no breakouts / grease attacks / dryness. After so long searching and so much money wasted, it feels like I’ve found the Holy Grail, I’m so pleased with it! Best thing I’ve found since the Time Delay BB -Fingers crossed Boots don’t earn themselves another cult following and then discontinue this too! Good luck in your search everyone! 🙂

Hiya – thank you for coming back to leave a message for us who are still searching! I agree that the Boots N07 Hydraluminous is great too! It covers without being too heavy, it’s moisturising and leaves skin looking flawless. Great find! Good luck everyone! Lisa x

I can not believe that I have meet other people who feel the same about boots time delay bb cream.

When I realised it was being discontinued I went to every boots within a 20 mile radius to stock up. I have made contact with boots customer service numerous time time to see if this is likely to be relaunched…but they do not know!

I have to admit that whenever I go into boots I always seek out the bargain / sale stand…in the hope that a few dusty crates off bb cream have been discovered in the back of warehouse somewhere!! No luck!!! I have become a little bit obsessed (and stressed) about finding a replacement. I do still have 2 tubes of time delay left….but desperately want a replacement before I finish them!

It would be painful for me to calculate how much money (and time) I have spent on potential replacements….each time I try a new bb cream/foundation I get a little bit of excitement that this is “the one.” But you guessed it……

I even went to the extremes of trying to mix a million different bb creams and foundations together to create that perfect thing!!!

I love the almost more than medium coverage time delay gives…and the sticky texture that makes me actually like my little fine “character” lines!

But….I think I have finally found a replacement. I have been searching since September 2017!

I have always believed in waiting for things to happen naturally in my life rather than desperately chasing things…and this is exactly how I found my replacement.

All sounds very dramatic, but I have always been very self conscious of my skin. It’s not particularly dry, oily or “spotty” but just not great! And being able to just “run out of the door with a little slick of lip gloss has always been something I would love to experience!

So… I popped into my local pharmacy to collect some paracetamol…and there was a little box on the counter as I was paying….in this little box were ex samples of foundation! I started looking at them and the pharmacist said she was just about to thrown them away and I could have them. And guess what….

I have used the product for a few days before posting this as I wanted to be totally sure about it! And I am!!

It’s Rimmel “wake me up” ! Pls try it time delay lovers and let me know what you think?

I have bought it in 2 shades and mixed together for the perfect colour for my winter skin! XOX

YES!!! This thread has been going on for years and how amazing that we still all pine for our Time Delay BB Cream. I will second the Rimmel Wake Me Up – I really like it too. And the Boots Hydraluminous is lovely too. So thankfully, we seem to have something that brings us the same happiness that the Time Delay did…I wonder why they discontinued it when there was so much positivity surrounding it? Silly really. But I’m so pleased you’ve found a replacement and thanks for sharing on my blog! 🙂 xxx
