UPDATED: June 13th 2016
I wanted to update this post because I’ve noticed by my blog statistics that, even though the original post about Superdrug B Skincare Range, was written a while ago, I’ve had a lot of people reading it lately and asking if I would still recommend this range. The answer is absolutely YES! In fact, I’ve probably re-stocked my skincare shelves with the range a couple of times since this post was first published, so if you’re wondering if this budget brand is right for you, click here as there’s a better than half price offer on some of the range here – you’d be mad not to check it out!
As a teenager I was able to try anything on my skin without a problem – bargain basement suncream, cheap as chips foundation – no problem. Then, in my twenties and without warning, I tried a brand of face cream which I’d used a hundred times before but, instead of getting the glowy skin results I’d had with it previously, I looked like a puffer fish with very bad sunburn and a bad case of acne on the side. Nice. So, like an estimated 50% of the population I joined the sensitive skin sufferers.
Since discovering Clarins moisturisers and also my favourite facial oils which mostly contain natural, organic ingredients, I’ve been able to prevent an outbreak of PFF (puffer fish face) but I’ve always been wary of buying anything other than what I knew my skin was okay with. So, this post is about my latest fabulous skincare find. I couldn’t wait to share it with you but I wanted to finish the whole jar without a hitch before reporting on its results and as I’m now happily on to the second jar, here it is:
Superdrug B.Firm Day Cream has really changed the way I look at budget brands. Not that I am a skincare snob or anything, but I just didn’t expect the fantastic results that I’ve usually only found with more high priced ranges. I don’t know what made me choose this but I’m so glad I did! There are three Phases in the B. Skincare range: 1 – for 20/30 age group; 2 – for 30/40 age group and 3 – for 50 plus. Although I’m still only in my 40s (despite another birthday looming v.soon!) I went for the Phase 3 B.Firm Day Cream because it had the magic word firm on it. And more than wrinkles, blemishes or any other skin problems, loss of elasticity (hanging jowls) are what I am personally most concerned with. With a price point of £13.99 I decided to go for the B.Boosted Peptide Rich Elixir as well which is designed to be used before the moisturiser, like a serum and at £15.99 I decided for once to go for the whole enchilada. I’ve never bought both serum and moisturiser in a more expensive range as I’ve felt it too frivolous but because I wasn’t spending a fortune here, I decided if they were rubbish, I wouldn’t feel bad using them on my feet or Stressed Husband (which is where a lot of my ‘not best’ skincare goes!).
So, what’s so great about these products apart from the price? The moisturiser has an SPF 20 – always a plus – it smells light and fresh (I tend to stay clear of heavily fragranced products) and the serum’s gel/lotion texture feels great on a tired face. I’ve been using this range for about 2 months now without even a sign of PFF. And I am able to say that they work just as well (dare I say better?) than my Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream, which I love, but has now moved over to make way for my new crush. Superdrug B. may be cheap but as far as I’m concerned, it’s a classy act to follow!
